Year 2

Year 2 have had a busy and exciting term, filled with engaging activities and memorable experiences that have supported their learning across the curriculum.

Throughout the term, the children have taken part in the Making Healthy Changes weekly workshops. These sessions have encouraged pupils to think about the importance of healthy lifestyles, including making positive choices about food, exercise and wellbeing. The children have enjoyed taking part in practical activities and discussions, helping them to develop valuable habits for staying healthy and active.

Our Explorers Theme Day brought learning to life as the children stepped into the shoes of famous explorers. Through a range of creative and hands-on activities, they discovered how explorers travelled, what they found on their journeys and why exploration has played such an important part in our understanding of the world.

We were also delighted to welcome Wild Aid into school for a special environmental learning day. The children enjoyed finding out more about the natural world and explored ways in which we can all help to care for and protect our environment. The day inspired thoughtful discussions about sustainability and the importance of looking after our planet.

During our Easter Assembly, the children confidently shared their learning and celebrated the meaning of Easter through songs, readings and performances. It was wonderful to see them demonstrating such enthusiasm, confidence and teamwork.

Year 2 also enjoyed a visit to Blackpool and The Fylde College, where they took part in a range of exciting activities in a new learning environment. The visit encouraged curiosity, collaboration and a love of learning, giving the children opportunities to explore new experiences and develop their confidence.

This term has been full of opportunities for Year 2 to learn, explore and grow, creating lasting memories while developing their knowledge, skills and enthusiasm for learning.

This half term our students are engaged in an exciting and enriching curriculum! In Physical Education, our young learners have been showcasing their creativity by developing dance routines that vividly depict the story of the Great Fire of London, demonstrating not only their physical skills but also historical understanding. Our commitment to community service was evident as we collected an abundance of food and goods for both the Harvest Festival and the Blackpool Food Bank.

Art came alive as our students explored the world of renowned artist Paul Klee, honing their artistic abilities and unleashing their imagination. Safety is a priority at Kincraig, and we were fortunate to have the Lancashire Fire and Rescue team educate us on fire safety, including the hazards of fireworks. During Anti-Bullying Week, we delved into the importance of friendship and kindness, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

To complement our holistic education, the Coram Life Education bus made a memorable visit, providing valuable insights into understanding and appreciating our marvelous bodies. Year 2 at Kincraig is an adventure of learning, growth, and community engagement!
