Reception

This term has been full of exciting learning opportunities for our Reception children.

As part of our English Week celebrations, we enjoyed a visit to Moor Park Library. The children loved exploring the library, listening to stories and discovering the many books available to borrow. The visit helped to promote a love of reading and encouraged the children to develop their curiosity and enthusiasm for books and storytelling.

We also had a wonderful trip to Farmer Parrs Animal World, where the children took part in a range of hands-on learning experiences linked to our topic work. They enjoyed meeting a variety of animals and learning about their habitats, needs and how to care for them. The visit provided lots of opportunities for asking questions, making observations and developing their understanding of the natural world.

Both visits have enriched the children’s learning experiences and created many happy memories, while supporting their language development, curiosity and understanding of the world around them.

Welcome to the lively world of our Reception class! This week, we delved into the importance of keeping our teeth clean and healthy, exploring the wonders of our brilliant bodies. Excitement filled the air as we selected our first library books of the year, fostering a love for reading.

Outdoor adventures took us on a hunt for items starting with the sounds we’ve learned, enhancing our phonetic journey. Writing milestones were achieved as we crafted our very first sentences, ensuring clarity with finger spaces. Mathematical concepts came alive as we used ten frames to represent numbers.

Dreaming big, we pondered future aspirations, discussing hobbies and skills for our dream jobs. Exploring global traditions, we celebrated birthdays around the world, indulging in role-playing parties and embracing diverse customs. As Halloween approaches, we weighed pumpkins and danced our way into the festive spirit with a Halloween Disco. Stay tuned for more joyous updates from our vibrant Reception class!
