Anti-Bullying Week 2021

Anti-Bullying Week 2021 was a huge success around school. The week began with an assembly, where the school were introduced to the new Anti-Bullying Ambassadors for 2021/ 2022. On Monday 15th November, all children came to school in odd socks to raise awareness of Anti-Bullying Week. In the afternoon, children around the whole school swapped classes and had the opportunity to work with children in a range of different Year Groups. Activities ranged from creating Anti-Bullying videos, acting out scenes to promote Anti-Bullying, creating posters, making friendship soup, among many more activities. During the week, every child created a link for our Anti-Bullying Week paper chain, which is now all joined together and proudly displayed in the school Atrium. The theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week was ‘One Kind Word’ and the children enjoyed sharing kind words with one another and will continue to do so.

Children in Need 2021

On Friday 19th November, everyone at Kincraig was very excited to meet a very special guest in school- Pudsey Bear! Pudsey visited each of the classes and throughout the day the children took part in an array of Pudsey and Children in Need themed activities. Children came to school in non-uniform and some children even wore special Pudsey clothes. Great fun was had by everyone and as a school, we raised a massive £136 to support the Children in Need charity. Well done Kincraig!

Remembrance Day 2021

On 11th November 2021, Kincraig honoured and remembered all of the fallen soldiers who have lost their lives serving in the armed forces.

At 11 o’clock, the school held a minutes silence to remember all those who had lost their lives. Throughout the week, the children took part in a number of activities to commemorate all of the soldiers. For example, children in Year 2 and Year 6 walked up to the Memorial Gardens and laid the amazing wreaths that they had made in school. For homework, every class from Baby Room to Year 6 was set the challenge to create something related to poppies and Remembrance Day for homework and there were some fantastic pieces of work brought into school to share. During the week, Year 2 and Year 6 participated in a Poppies and Poetry Workshop.

‘Lest we forget’

Pre-School and Reception Halloween Party

Halloween 2021 was made extra spooky this year with a ‘SPOOKTACULAR’ party for our Pre-school and Reception children. The children’s costumes all looked amazing and they smiled and laughed all the way through the party. The children thoroughly enjoyed their party activities, dancing, music, games and party snacks. A fun night was had by all!

Halloween Disco 2021

On 21st October, the children returned to school after hours- but not as we’d seen them before. The school hall was filled with ghosts, ghouls and zombies to name a few. The children all really enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and had made a super effort for the disco. They all enjoyed lots of spooky Halloween music, dancing and snacks. The Halloween disco proved to be ‘SPOOKTACULAR’ night and was enjoyed by all.

#Libraries Week

W/C 4/10/21

This week we have been celebrating National Libraries Week in School by visiting our fantastic School Library. We are lucky to have had lots of lovely new and exciting books to read, take home and enjoy. Our new School Librarians in Year 4 and Year 5 have completed their Librarian training and have worn their new badges with pride!

Classes have loved listening to stories and using puppets to retell them. Children have liked sharing books with their friends and have looked at non-fiction and fiction books. They have really enjoyed selecting a book to share and read at home with their grown-ups and brothers and sisters.

Children in Need

Kincraig took part in raising money for Children in Need. All children could come dressed in their own clothes and there was an assembly in the morning so children understood what it was about. Lots of Children in Need activities happened throughout the school and nursery.

Anti Bullying Conference

Kincraig were invited to the Anti Bullying Conference at the Village Hotel, Blackpool.

It was a very popular conference with primary and secondary schools from all over the North West represented. We took part in a Questions and Answers session as well as many other great workshops which included an anti bullying drama group with Hollywood Actor Will Poulter and TV star Sam Retford!

The Anti Bullying Ambassadors learnt many things that they will be able to take back with them into school and help others.

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

Kincraig took part in the Macmillan Coffee Afternoon. All classes made cakes that were then sold to parents and carers. It was a great success and we raised a lot of money for this important charity.

Roald Dahl Day

The whole of Kincraig was involved in Roald Dahl Day. Each class had been studying one of his books in the week prior to the day and on the day itself there were many activities throughout the school about the life of Roald Dahl and the characters in the books. Everyone in school came dressed up as someone from his books.

Arts Week focusing on The Queen

Kincraig had a fantastic Arts Week where each year group looked at a different era of the Queens life because she is our longest serving monarch. This cumulated with an Art display in the school hall and each year group performing a song from each 10 year period of her life.
